Here's What Was New:
August, September & October 2001
December 28, 2001
I've added a page to the Internet Helpfiles. This one
provides a solution to the PageMaker ActiveX/COM
Proximity.Dictionary problem
that Norton WinDoctor reveals but does not permanently fix.
Hope this helps someone!
December 24, 2001
I added a new script to the advanced section of Javascript
Workbench, the
Bush Toy Sliding Puzzle. It's a
multi-browser compatible, dhtml version of the children's toy
sliding squares puzzle. Why? Because it's fun!
November 15, 2001
Here is my new non-fiction essay, published in the Plantation News,
intended to augment your lexical tool chest:
Raking in the Words. Enjoy!
October 21, 2001
I have put together a photo-essay of the
beautiful fall tree leaves
here at Southern States, where I am working as a contractor.
These are displayed with my new Photo-Essay system.
October 15, 2001 A friend asked to
see my humble cubicle, so
I have put up some images of my work habitat. See where the typical
high tech worker-bee builds the internet!
September 11, 2001
A tough day. I am upset but safe. Today we saw that
statistically unlikely things do come to pass. We watched as heroic
risk-taking failed, unlike in the movies. But even after today, these
kinds of terrorist events remain statistically unlikely, although they are
now more clearly imaginable, and widely feared.
August 31, 2001
I've added a new script to the Advanced section of Javascript Workbench,
a Minature Movie that runs in a series of popup windows. The animation is
done in four-browser-compatible dhtml, which is a total pain! I hope you enjoy
Baby Drop,
because it sure took a lot of time and hard work for a 25 second show!
August 24, 2001
I've added a new script to the Basics section of Javascript Workbench,
Drop Down and Go, which examines
four ways of using the select list for navigation.
August 20, 2001
A recent Javascript Workbench invention is the
Auction Feedback Generator.
If you have grown tired of composing auction feedback,
this is the utility for you!
August 15, 2001
I put up two gif animations I made a couple years ago,
Crystal and
Girltwirl.
They're big (~375K), so lucky you if you have a fast connection!
On a slower connection, they load like little slide shows,
so even your wait is entertaining.
August 12, 2001
See my new script in Javascript Workbench called
QuartoNav. I was working on the javascript Crosshairs
when it dawned on me that
I wasn't making just another cool cursor trick - I had created
a whole new form of website navigation!
August 11, 2001
I've written another "Prevent Right Click" script,
Well Slap My Hand,
designed to minimally protect one's images from the
evil right-click image stealers. You can find it in Javascript Workbench -
Intermediate Level.
The apparently simple task of cross-browser DHTML animation
turns out to be a huge pain! And all that code for such
a lame effect... Oh well, I'm learning.
August 9, 2001 My recent javascript,
the Cursor Locator, has inspired me to create four new cursor tricks:
Crosshairs 1,
Crosshairs 2,
GunScope and
Periscope. Be sure to play with all
of these fun javascript toys in Javascript Workbench.
August 8, 2001
I've added a new script to the Basics section of Javascript Workbench,
called The Cursor Locator.
Being able to access the x,y coordinates of the cursor is a common
task in javascript projects, and this script shows one way to do it.
